The store’s layout is sleek, yet uncomplicated which allows the customer to choose from an assortment of necklaces, bracelets, rings, pins, cufflinks and watches. What separates The Jewel Box from other jewelers is the attention to detail and ability to offer custom hand-crafted pieces. The shop employs four on-sight designers who allow the customer to create a custom piece or combine existing stones into new keepsakes. Michelle Allison, store manager, showcased some of The Jewel Box’s finer pieces, including a stunning opal pendant and hand-crafted mother of pearl lapis rings. Throughout its business The Jewel Box has put together unique pieces, including an 18k gold butterfly set in sapphires. With a background and a degree in fashion merchandising, Allison is a jeweler with a decisive eye. In explaining her passion for the business, Allison says, “I have always appreciated not only the aesthetics and lasting value of the pieces but also the humble origins from which they came. It’s the joy to be part of a beautifying experience for someone. Many times customers bring in family heirlooms and we are able to redesign the pieces into something new that holds the sentimental value as well as a renewed elegance for the customer.” “Customer satisfaction is the name of our game,” Allison says. The Jewel Box is not a chain store; everything is done by hand, from waxing to finishing the stones. The shop seeks to fit men and women with an ideal piece of jewelry. “Men prefer a more shapely and stylish piece of jewelry, whether in watches, rings or cufflinks, and women seek out the forever beauty in jewelry,” Allison says.
