WINDOW WIZARDS
: It’s clear that Window Treatment Counts
Window Wizards, a drapery manufacturer located at 11840 Canon Boulevard, Suite 400, realizes these needs. Jack Bausman, owner of Window Wizards since the early 1990’s, has specialized in draperies and throughout the years has kept up with the changing styles that time will bring to design and fashion. Windows are no longer neglected. The process is simple. A home owner or contractor of a model home discusses his thoughts for improvements with a design company or individual interior designer. Once a theme is established and decided upon, the designers come to Window Wizards with the consumers’ request and Bausman and his staff began to do their magic with draperies and/or blinds.

As with fashion design, the cuts, styles and trends are constantly changing with window treatment. In addition to fabric choices, correct measurement and the installation also become an integral part of the customer’s satisfaction. Bausman will tell you, a great deal of effort goes into the completion of a window drapery. However, the final product brings smiles to both customer and manufacturer as well.

Throughout the years Bausman has encountered a wide span of unique installations but none that probably exceeded the time he installed blinds at a newly built home. Bausman was told the new home owners were not due in for a couple of days. With key in hand, Bausman went up the outside steps of this lovely new home to begin the installation of the blinds requested by the home owners.

As he approached the front door he glanced through the front windows and noticed that furniture had been delivered and placed throughout the room. He thought to himself that the home owners must have already begun transporting items. To be on the safe side he knocked just in case they were in. He surely didn’t want to or be startled.

With no response to his knock, Bausman used his key to let himself in. Bausman was well aware that when a new owner officially moves in, locks are changed to ensure that contractors or electricians will no longer have access to the home. When Bausman’s key worked he proceeded.

Bausman began installing blinds downstairs, working his way upstairs to the bedrooms. Upon entering the master bedroom he heard sounds coming from the bathroom and in a matter of seconds, a man emerged from the shower. Startled of course the man asked Bausman, “Who are YOU? And Bausman, both shocked and embarrassed replied, "I am the blind man!"

Bausman does all of the drapery installation and although his company has grown, he hopes in five years to have a additional seamstresses and most installers on staff. Operating from the Hampton Roads area to Richmond, Bausman has even completed some work in Maryland. The growth potential is endless. His passion lies in the creative realm.

Window treatment is important, whether you choose to consider “Shabby Chic” on the Style Channel or popular decorating shows like “Trading Spaces.” Or, if you design your home yourself or hire an interior decorator to help coordinate ideas or various themes. With the many changes and improvements one can make to a home, a room is never considered complete until the window treatment is displayed.
