Wine Connection:
Worldwide selection, small village ambiance
A short
stroll through Port Warwick will uncover a wondrous variety of shops,
restaurants, and residences. Coastal Wine Connection, a small wine
shop, brilliantly illustrates the charm and personality of this
village community.
After
more than four years of planning, Coastal Wine Connection is finally
a reality, explain owners Brian and Sheree Holloway, who also
manage a shop in Hawaii. We offer customers the opportunity
to choose from carefully
selected wine and beer from across the world.
The
soothingly colored yellow interior complements the hand-assembled
wine racks and brushed steel, stoneware-topped wine tasting table.
Even the logo is customized, with each grape in the bunch representing
an immediate family member.
Wine
books, maps, and magazines throughout the store for the customers
reading are a notable touch. Adorning the wall are pieces by featured
local artists. Hawaiian music invites customers to relax as they
browse. If you are unfamiliar with wine or how to pair it with a
meal or social setting, though, do not fret.
Selecting
the perfect wine is easy, as the staff at Coastal Wine Connection
can match individual preferences with the array of wines available,
says Brian. There is a story behind every wine, and we are
happy to share that with the customer. With more than 350
individual featured labels from numerous regions, states, and countries,
there is a wine to meet everyones taste and price range. Over
60 Virginia wines can be found. Dessert wines, suitable for after
dinner or to complement a dessert, are a sweet idea for any meal.
Currently
a Virginia wine-tasting judge and a writer for the Virginia Wine
Gazette, Brian gained much of his experience from assisting in the
opening of a vineyard and by working closely with notable wine experts
for many years. Through building close relationships with these
individuals, Brian is able to obtain hard-to-locate wines that are
new to the region for his customers. Port Warwick residents even
have a delivery option! Sheree carefully selects the featured food
and gift items. Items include cheeses, gift baskets, and an assortment
of products made in Virginia. Gift baskets can be arranged
for any occasion and with a variety of specialty items, says
Sheree. Cheese favorites include dill havarti, peccorino, gruyere,
feta, and manchego. Pineapple or orange jams, crackers, biscuits,
and nuts are a few of the many featured Virginia products. Terracotta
and wire mesh are among the variety of available baskets. Gift certificates
are also available.
Coastal
Wine Connection also features a selection of beer from near and
far, including American, German, and Belgian microbrews. Seasonal
beers can be found as well. After Brians introduction to a
special Belgian brew several years ago, he has tried to offer a
varied selection of beer unlike anything the region has to offer.
To
further encourage familiarity with wine, special wine-tasting sessions
and wine classes are available. And monthly featured wines offer
the opportunity to experience a superb wine at an extraordinarily
reasonable price. Holiday events at the shop feature wine and beer
specific to a region. And an e-mail newsletter is available for
the sign-up.
Its
great to be part of such a supportive and inviting community,
say Brian and Sheree. If you have a story, be sure to stop by and
share it as you explore the hand-picked selection of wine, beer,
and cheese available to you. |
